ADOPT A HOMELESS DOG Why adopt a dog from Sun City K9 Adoptions? Adopting a homeless dog is part of the solution to the growing problem of pet overpopulation and the crisis of homeless animals in the United States. The fact is there are not enough homes for all of the dogs that are born each year, and many of these dogs end up in shelters and are killed. SAVE A LIFE – adopt a homeless dog!!! If you already own a dog, you can do your part to reduce pet over population by spaying or neutering your pet. We are looking for special people with big hearts and the right attitudes to give the gift of a loving home to a homeless dog and who will consider the dog a part of the family. Many dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. They deserve a second chance to find a happy home and family of their very own. ADOPT ME
Consider the Ten Commitments of dog ownership before you adopt me... 1. My life is likely to last 10 - 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful for me. Remember that before you adopt me. 2. Give me time to understand what it is that you want from me. I need to go to a basic obedience class so I can learn what you do want, not just what you don't want. 3. Place your trust in me...it's crucial to my well being. 4. Don't be angry at me for long and don't hit me or lock me up as a punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I have only you. 5. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when you are speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. 7. Please be gentle and kind to me. Remember I have teeth and claws that could easily hurt you, but only fear or pain will cause me to use them. 8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak. 9. Take care of me when I get old. You too will grow old. 10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch." Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember that I love you ... OTHER CONSIDERATIONS Are you willing to care for the dog throughout his lifetime, perhaps 10 to 20 years? Can you afford the cost of food, grooming and regular veterinary care, including yearly vaccinations and check ups? Are you prepared to attend training classes to teach your dog basic obedience and social skills? Will you consult a trainer to help you if your dog has a behavior issue that you can't deal with? Will you have the time and energy to give your dog regular daily exercise (this does not mean just giving the dog the run of the yard)? Will you license your dog, have it spayed or neutered, and always obey all leash laws? If you move, get married, get a new job, or have kids, will you keep your dog with you? Do you know how to housebreak a dog? Have you considered crate training your new pet? Will you take your dog on vacation with you, leave her at home, hire a pet sitter, or take him to a kennel? Have you thought about who will care for your pet during an emergency? What happens if you can no longer care for your dog yourself? Will you be able to give your dog the love and attention she needs, when she needs it, and not just at your convenience? Are you prepared for all of the shedding, chewing, digging, drooling, barking, housebreaking mistakes, etc., that comes with sharing space with a dog? Are you ready to give your heart to your dog and accept his in return? IF YES, WE HAVE A DOG FOR YOU !
