  ADOPT A HOMELESS DOG

Why adopt a dog from Sun City K9 Adoptions?  Adopting a homeless dog or cat is part of the solution to the growing problem of pet overpopulation and the crisis of homeless animals in the United States.  The fact is there are not enough homes for all of the dogs and cats that are born each year, and many of these dogs end up in shelters and are killed.  SAVE A LIFE – adopt a homeless dog or cat!!!  If you already own a pet, you can do your part to reduce pet over population by spaying or neutering your pet.

We are looking for special people with big hearts and the right attitudes to give the gift of a loving home to a homeless pet and who will consider the pet as part of the family.  Many pets find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.  They deserve a second chance to find a happy home and family of their very own.

Adoption Requirements

We are often asked about our adoption requirements, we hope this explains our process.

Many of the dogs and cats that enter our shelter come to us due to neglect or irresponsibility by the previous owner.

It is very important to us that the dogs and cats we adopt out are going into responsible caring homes.

The main thing we look for in a potential new home is a proper environment, a commitment to making the dog a part

of your family, and your understanding the dog will need ongoing regular veterinary care as well as additional training

in some cases.

We cover the basic care of the dog before it is placed for adoption including:

  1. Spaying-Neutering

  2. Vaccinations

  3. Identification including ID tags and a Microchip

  4. Grooming

  5. Dental cleaning (if needed)

You should be prepared to provide

  1. A safe and secure yard/home area

  2. Constant access to the home with interaction of human family members

  3. Ongoing routine veterinary care such as annual vaccines, checkups, prescription parasite control, grooming and dental care.

  4. A commitment to additional training such as housebreaking or obedience lessons as needed.

Together, this commitment from our shelter and your family is how we help homeless pets find families!
